Scope (Target audience) :This course is
based on the Guidelines given in the STCW Code 2010 Table A-II/2 & A-III/2
and IMO Model Course 3.11 (Marine Accident & Incident Investigation). This
course is designed for the officer who is designated as Safety Officer on board
ship.
Objective :
• To understand hazards involved in shipboard operations
& duty and obligation regarding safety.
•To understand roles and responsibilities of safety Officer.
•To understand the functioning of the Safety Committee.
•To understand the importance of reporting near misses
and accidents.
•To carry out Risk Assessment, Accident Investigations
& Root Cause Analysis.
•To handle stress and fatigue and understand its
implications to accidents.
•To understand the importance of Safety training on
Board.

•Brief introduction to ISM Code.
•Duties and responsibilities of the Shipboard Safety Officer
